I had a much better day today.  The bank cheque of a £100 for the first two weeks of my sick money arrived as promised.  I went to the vet to get Jake my cat's flea treatment and a worming tablet £35 + £17 groceries = £52, gone in half an hour!  I spent the rest of the afternoon with Caroline, we cooked together, pooling resources, ending at 9pm ( Read more... )

I got up early today to get to the post office ATM, to see if my cheque had arrived in my bank account. There was only £5,16 there. Luckily I had the common sense to have a bag full of 5p's from my piggy bank, which I changed in the PO for a fiver. I bought cat food as my cupboard is bare, it's not his favourite but needs must. Damn damn damn! The Dept of Works and Pensions promised faithfully that I would get my cheque today. The Post Office closes half day on Saturday so I've been waiting at the window for the mail and what happens? The mail arrives 12:45 am, just 15 mins before the PO closes.
